THE BRIEF

The US Open tennis championship and Mercedes-Benz are respectively the pinnacle of tennis and automotive performance. MBUSA’s longstanding association with the US Open tournament is testament to a mutual respect. MBUSA will once again be distributing tickets to the event – premium tickets usually out of reach for a tennis enthusiast.

Create a program that will distribute tickets via sweepstakes and create significant buzz around social media.

WHAT WE DID

Roger Federer, a brand ambassador for Mercedes is no stranger to the US Open. Having won it 5 times, we wanted to use his name recognition to generate buzz around our ticket give away.

Similar to a Mercedes-Benz, tennis is an art form. We wanted an experience that highlighted the grace, elegance, and power of the game in an unconventional way. As part of the connection process for entering the sweepstakes, visitor’s watched in awe as Roger Federer turned their facebook cover photo into a piece of art. Using his racket, a few tennis balls, and some paint, visitors were treated to a bit of fun that they could then share with their friends and family.
